The Jive™ is a One-Hand Harmonica Mute™ (patent pending).  Each model of the Jive™ Harmonica Mute can held and controlled along with the harmonica using just one hand! 

The Jive Hush™ Harmonica Mute is designed for quiet practicing with a slide chromatic harmonica. It is similar in design to the Jive™ Chromatic Mute with one primary difference, the core comprises a sound defusing matrix that adds to the effectiveness of this practice mute. This mute is specially designed to reduce volume although it can also be used as a soft resonating mute.

This mute can be held in any position, but is primarily designed to be attached to the middle finger of the same hand that holds the harmonica. This sets up the hand to seal the harmonica directly against the sound diffusing matrix. It’s important to note that the seal is a critical part of overall volume reduction. The player’s free hand is free to control the chromatic harmonica slide.

Tests show that the degree of volume reduction varies primarily by frequency and how well the player is able to seal the harmonica to the mute. 

Any Jive™ Harmonica Mute can be used effectively as a quiet practice mute especially while playing pocket size harmonicas. However, the Jive™ Hushis particularly suited for use with chromatic harmonicas because they are more difficult to seal.
