The Jive™ Hush is designed for quite practicing with a chromatic harmonica. The core of this mute comprises a sound defusing matrix that adds to the quieting effect. Tests also show that the degree of volume reduction varies by frequency and by how well the player is able to seal the harmonica to the mute.
This mute can be held in any position, but for quiet practicing it is primarily designed to be attached to the middle or ring finger of the same hand that holds the harmonica. This sets up the hand to seal the harmonica directly into the matrix. The player’s free hand can then be used for further support while controlling the chromatic harmonica slide. The Hush opening provides generous coverage popular chromatic harmonicas. The harmonica can also be easily repositioned while playing.
This mute is especially designed to reduce volume, although it can also be used as a soft tone resonating mute. To use the Jive™ Hush as a controlled resonating mute simply connect it to the thumb of the same hand that holds the harmonica. This sets up a grip for holding and sealing the harmonica to the mute in an easily controlled Over the Top™ configuration.
